Woman wearing a CP Visor Ski Helmet and a selection of additional visors to change for light and snow conditions

Selecting the appropriate CP visor for your ski helmet is essential to ensure optimal visibility and protection across varying weather conditions. CP offers a diverse range of visors, each designed to perform under specific environmental factors. Below is a comprehensive guide to help you choose the right visor for your needs.

General: Single lens visors (SL) provide slightly better visibility than DL double lens visors because there is only 0ne lens to look through. The maintenance of the SL visor is not as easy as on a DL visor. Double lens visors are equipped with antifog coating in between lenses, therefore no access to it resulting in no damage possible to coating and easy maintenance. See maintenance care instructions.

Two Visor Shapes To Choose From

CP visors are available in 2 different forms, both forms fit all helmets but the 2.7 Square is a newer design that covers the face slightly better than the old 1.6 Teardrop form providing more protection and improved peripheral visibility.

POLARIZED LENS VERSUS NON POLARIZED LENS

Polarization provides increased glare protection reduces reflections from snow and ice and therefore enhances contrast. Resulting in more relaxed skiing behavior.

What Does Photochromatic Mean, and How Does It Apply to Visor Ski Helmets?

Photochromatic technology refers to lenses that automatically adjust their tint based on light conditions. These lenses contain molecules that react to UV exposure, darkening when exposed to bright sunlight and becoming lighter in low-light or overcast conditions. This adaptive feature enhances visibility and eye protection, making it particularly valuable for skiing, where lighting can change rapidly due to shifting weather, altitude, and reflections from the snow.

When applied to visor ski helmets, photochromatic visors provide seamless adaptability, ensuring optimal vision whether you’re skiing under bright bluebird skies or navigating a foggy afternoon. Instead of switching between different lenses or wearing separate goggles, a photochromatic visor adjusts in real time, reducing glare in intense sunlight and enhancing contrast in lower light. This technology not only enhances comfort but also improves safety by allowing skiers to see terrain details more clearly in varying conditions.

Many high-end visor ski helmets now feature photochromatic visors, offering skiers the ultimate convenience and performance. With one visor that does it all, there’s no need to carry extra lenses or worry about sudden weather changes—just focus on enjoying the slopes.

COMFORT LENS SERIES

All visors equipped with VARIO or photocromatic are part of the Comfort Serie since they automatically adjust to the varying light brightness. The photocromatic function is achieved with the use of a second specialty lens.
